Transite® 1000 is a high-density, non-asbestos fiber cement board engineered for superior strength, thermal stability, electrical insulation, and machinability. With a nominal density of 100 pcf (1602 kg/m³), Transite 1000 is monolithic and non-combustible, rated for continuous operating temperatures up to 1000°F (538°C).

Composed of portland cement and select non-asbestos fibers, Transite 1000 is hydraulically pressed and oven-cured for exceptional dimensional stability and strength. It resists heat, mechanical stress, and electrical discharge, and can be precisely machined for a wide range of OEM and industrial uses.

Transite 1000 is available in thicknesses from 1/2" (12.8 mm) to 3" (76.2 mm), in sheet sizes up to 48-5/8" × 96-5/8" (1235 mm × 2454 mm).

  • Performance and Testing

Transite® 1000 is rated Class A with a 0-0 Flame Spread and Smoke Developed Index per ASTM E84. It passes UL 723 and ASTM E136 fire test methods, confirming its non-combustibility in high-temperature environments. Transite 1000 offers excellent electrical insulation, with a volume resistivity of 1.25 × 10¹³ ohm-cm and a dielectric strength of 56 volts/mil per ASTM D257 and D495. It also demonstrates high arc resistance at 272 seconds. Engineered for thermal stability, mechanical durability, and electrical performance, Transite 1000 meets or exceeds industry standards for use in demanding industrial applications up to 1000°F (538°C).

Applications

Applications include industrial and electrical systems requiring high strength, thermal stability, and electrical insulation. Transite® 1000 is commonly used for load-bearing gaskets, press plates, machine guards, spacers, and precision-machined supports. Electrical uses include busbar supports, aluminum pot insulation, electrode arm insulators, transformer spacers, arc shields, and terminal strips. It also performs reliably in high-heat environments such as furnace linings, foundry core plates, soldering surfaces, oven shelving, welding shields, and splash guards.

Installation and Fabrication

Transite® 1000 panels are dense, strong, and easily machined using conventional fabrication techniques. They can be cut, drilled, routed, or ground with standard carbide or diamond-tipped tools. For best results, dry-cutting methods with dust collection systems are recommended. Transite 1000 can be securely installed using screws, bolts, or mechanical fasteners through predrilled holes. The material maintains excellent dimensional stability during machining and thermal cycling, making it ideal for shaping into precision parts such as bushings, spacers, and insulators. Panels are non-combustible and suitable for both thermal and electrical applications in industrial environments.
