Marinite® C is a calcium silicate insulation board with a nominal density of 54 pcf (865 kg/m3). It is an inorganic, non-combustible, high-temperature insulation specifically engineered for conveying, containing, handling, and forming molten aluminum and other non-ferrous metals. It can be used in systems operating up to 1400°F (760°C). Marinite C is made primarily of micro silica, calcium silicate and reinforcing fibers. This product is off-white, essentially dust-free, contains no asbestos, mercury or lead, and maintains clean surfaces that won't contaminate molten metal.
Marinite C has been discontinued by the manufacturer. It was previously available in thicknesses of 1" (25.4 mm), 1-1/2" (38.1 mm) and 2" (50.8 mm) in sheet sizes of 2' x 4' (1219 x 2438 mm), 4' x 4' (1219 x 1219 mm) and 4' × 8' (1219 x 2438 mm). Marinite A is its direct replacement.
