  • Performance and Testing

Tested in accordance with ASTM D495 and D257, CS85™ offers excellent electrical insulation with high arc resistance (304 seconds) and volume resistivity (4.52 × 10¹² ohm-cm). It maintains dimensional stability at temperatures up to 1800°F.

Applications

Applications for CS85 include industrial oven insulation, press platen insulation, induction furnace casing, and kiln insulation. It is well suited for use in foundry core and blow plates, electrical resistance insulation, and hot glass handling. Due to its non-corroding nature and resistance to disintegration after prolonged water immersion, CS85 performs exceptionally in high-moisture environments where metal components may corrode and other insulation materials may degrade. It is also ideal for high-temperature applications such as molten aluminum insulation, crucible linings, bushings, washers, spacers, covers, and tops.

Installation and Fabrication

CS85™ panels are strong, dense, and dimensionally stable, yet easily fabricated using standard tools. They can be cut, machined, and drilled with conventional carpentry equipment, making them suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. Panels can be securely fastened using screws or other mechanical fasteners as needed.
